EmacsEmacs versions that I have ported (They both work on AXP as well as on VAX)
Older versions of Emacs are available as well.
To get the the full patched source, you have to fetch EMACS-19_28-19970601.TAR-GZ orEMACS-19_28-19970601.ZIP by anonymous FTP.
If you already have the previous full release EMACS-19_28-UPDATES-19961225.TAR-GZ, fetch whatever you're missing among the updates EMACS-19_28-UPDATES-19970601.TAR-GZ by anonymous FTP.
If you have an even older release, there's a whole bunch of UPDATES files to fetch.
"Full patched source" means that you get a complete kit, that you only needs unpacking, then you only have to read the docs, configure, compile, build and install.
If you decide to fetch this source kit, read the section starting with "Please, if you want to help" below. You can't miss it.
If you have a problem, you may get some help from the small FAQ for this port of Emacs 19.28. If you have found a bug, it may already be reported. You may want to read the reported bugs (there is often a quick fix in there to read).

Lisp packages that have been worked on are the shell mode, dired and compilation mode (compilation mode may need more work to be perfect), as well as a few others.
Some people have started doing work on the Lisp library:
